Moses did not know why he had to make the tent exactly as he had been shown on the mountain. He just knew that he had to make the tent exactly as he had been shown on the mountain. And he did it anyway.
Hebrews 8:5
They serve a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” (ESV)
His weren't the real things, but copies of the real things. Only God knew about the real tent and the real High Priest He would install centuries after Moses was gone. But God told Moses everything he needed to know.
Being anything less than exact about following that pattern would have had grave consequences, in part because the deep reasons for the pattern were only in God's mind. Tampering with or failing to follow the pattern from God means fashioning ourselves into gods with our own patterns.
Some Christians call Bible knowledge arrogance; in fact, "knowing" that "no one can know" is the true arrogance. Christians who deny God has a pattern establish their own pattern.
"All we" who fail to follow God's New Testament pattern with exactitude will find ourselves unprepared for its realization in the age to come.
